Care for patients, meet your goals.
When you do what you love for a living, you have every reason to go above and beyond, but it can sometimes help to have a framework where you can showcase the care you’ve provided. Programs like the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) give practices an incentive to offer patients top-notch care. We can help your optometry practice meet MIPS guidelines. In fact, half of the program’s performance metrics can be documented right within Eyefinity EHR, all without impacting your daily workflow and your patients’ experience. What is MIPS? MIPS is a Medicare program that encourages eligible providers to focus on the quality of the care they provide, versus the amount of care. This encourages healthy competition among practices and benefits patients by improving their experience. MIPS scores doctors—or groups of doctors—across four benchmarks: quality of care, the cost of care, the exchange of electronic health information, and improvements toward patient engagement. Each metric must be reported for a certain amount of time and is weighted differently from the others. Who Participates in MIPS? Not every doctor or practice can enroll in MIPS, but it’s required for some. Participation requirements depend on the services you provide each year, and those enrolled will either pay into the program for low performance or receive a payout for high performance. Those who are required to participate must submit data about their benchmarks each year. Those who fit some of the criteria can sign up for MIPS but cannot opt out once enrolled. Providers who don’t meet any criteria can send information voluntarily but won’t be penalized or rewarded for performance. How We Help You Strive for Excellence With built-in documentation for some MIPS guidelines, Eyefinity EHR makes it easier to reach your goals, without keeping you from doing what you love: providing excellent eye care for patients. Just one more reason to take your practice to the next level!
